Playland

The day after school let out, we took the kids (and John!) to Playland.  We figured that since it was a Thursday, it wouldn't be too busy, and we were right.

It wasn't packed at all, and the kids often didn't even need to wait in line before getting on a ride.

Here the boys are, in one line, hugging.  They were very happy that day.

Chris and Abigail on the ferris wheel.

Evelyn and me on some sort of umbrella ride.

Evelyn in the shiny blue car, with one hand on each steering wheel.

The girls on the boats.

Wave hello!

Sam and me on The Musical Express.

The boys in the blue teacup, John in the yellow.

John looked very relaxed on that ride.

The girls drive yet another car.

The most hilarious part of all of these rides with steering wheels was that Evelyn truly thought she was controlling the steering.  It was fun to watch her be so excited about it.

Now Jonathan and me on The Musical Express.

The kids hit a bit of a lull around lunch time.  We decided not to pack and lug around food from home, but to splurge and buy some there.  The biggest drawback to that was that the line up for the only place to buy food was almost an hour long, and spirits started to crumble a little as time dragged on.

They picked up a little when drinks were brought over.

And not long after they were back up to full power.

After lunch, the girls got their faces painted.

Beautiful butterfly.

For each girl.

John and Jonathan on The Musical Express.

The girls on yet another go around the track in the animal cars, this time with Abigail in the lead driver's seat.

Mid-afternoon we got some snow cones.  (See how the butterfly is already smeared?  Yeah...)

Abigail tries to snuggle on John's lap.  Or was she just trying to get some of his snow cone, since she was done hers?  Both equally likely possibilities.

Post-snow cone blue tongues.

A few final rides, including this one, called The Hellevator.  That's me in the middle, and Sam next to me.  John and Jonathan were on the other side.

Chris and Abigail on the carousel.

Jonathan doing his best Superman move on the swings, next to John.  (Chris took this picture while he and Sam were swinging behind them.)

A peaceful walk back to the van after a very fun day.
